Michael Curran died from injuries caused by a fall while rock climbing near Lyons, Colorado. I believe his death happened in May 1983. My younger brother was friends with Danny Curran (Michael's younger brother). They graduated in 1983 from SHS. I remember their graduation being a rather sad ocassion for the family due to just recently losing Michael.
Tom, I'm not 100% sure of the year so it indeed may have been 1982. I just remember my brother saying graduation was a bittersweet celebration for Danny (either Mike had just passed away or it was approx. the one-year anniversary of his death). Otherwise, I agree it was a climbing accident.
Mike was my best friend in school. Right after graduating I moved to Ohio. I found out Mike had been killed on my wedding day. May 4, 1982. He had fallen while climbing in the mountains on the 2nd. The news sure did put a damper on my wedding night.
